Chatkalsky ridge. Zhalalabatsky area. The mountain ridge in the western Tjan-Shang, limiting from the northwest Fergana valley, has length about 200 km, height more than 3000 metres. The southern slope of a ridge has width from a crest to a sole of 35-50 km, an extent of northern slope from a water separate crest to the river Chatkal of 12-18 km. Falling of valleys of northern slope abrupt, southern - more flat.
In sources of some rivers small glaciers have remained. East part of the Chatkalsky ridge topped with a gear, sharply outlined crest, has set of the isolated peaked tops (the highest reaches heights 4563).
On northwest and southwest slopes of a ridge the Chatkalsky state biospheric reserve settles down. On a southeast slope of a ridge the Sary-Cheleksky state biospheric reserve which has the status of biospheric reserve of UNESCO since 1979 settles down. In territory of this reserve the well-known lake Sary-Chelek settles down.
